Class Descriptions

Specialty Recreational Classes

 

Gymnie

Ages 18mo-4yrs, 45 minute class.

This class is great to help the child learn in a group setting. The first part of the the class is more coach-directed while the last 10-15 minutes will be a time for your child to explore and try new things directed by you in the gym!

Ages 18mo-2yrs: One parent must be present on the floor to help child learn to listen and to try new things as directed by the coach. 

Ages 3-4yrs: The parent may watch from the side, if the child is able to follow coach instructions.

Kinderoo

Ages 5-6, 1 hour class.

Your child needs to be able to participate without a parent. This class starts your child in the basics of gymnastics with direction from the coach and also incorporates play time. It is a great place for your child to learn how to listen to a teacher without the help of a parent. 

Homeschool Classes

Ages 5+, 1 hour class.

An exercise class for your homeschool student! Games and courses throughout the gym fulfill the phys ed. requirement for your program.

Ninja Gym Jr 

Ages 3-5, 1 hour class.

A fun and playful way to learn balance and coordination. Using gymnastics Canada’s fundamental movement patterns we will explore many fun ways to learn to move, land, rotate, jump, swing and stay very still, just like a ninja! While also incorporating play time.

Ninja Gym 

Ages 5-7, 1 hour class.

This class explores all the well known attributes of the ninja - stealth, agility, balance and coordination. Using gymnastics Canada’s fundamental movement patterns we will explore many fun ways to learn to move, land, rotate, jump, swing and stay very still, just like a ninja!

Ninja Gym Advanced

Ages 8+, 1 hour class

In this more advanced class, students will continue to explore all the well known attributes of the ninja while using Gymnastics Canada’s fundamental movement patterns and even some parkour movements to advance their skills like a ninja warrior!

Teen Class/Adult Class

Ages 16+, 1 hour class

These classes are partially unstructured to allow teens and adults to work on skills and fitness at their own pace, while still learning fundamental gymnastics movements and skills. Classes will be instructed throughout with full warmups, strength building and flexibility.

Tumbling & Trampoline 

Ages 7+, 1 hour class

In this class, students learn tumbling skills on the floor and have use of our double mini and regulation size trampoline to explore beyond the basics of trampolining! 

Cheer

Ages 7+, 1 hour class

In this beginner styled class, students will learn the basics and fundamentals of cheer. It is the perfect low pressure introduction to the exciting world of cheer! They will develop their skills in stunting, tumbling, dance, and formations in a non-competitive environment. It's a great way to build confidence and teamwork all while having fun!

CanGym Recreational Classes

 

Our recreational classes follow the CanGym program, which consists of 11 badges. This program was created by Gymnastics Canada and also includes components of the beginner levels of the Junior Olympic program. We strive to offer programs that are taught with attention to the ability and skill level of each individual. We hope to encourage fitness as a lifelong aspect. 

Burgundy/Red/Tan

Ages 6+, 1-1.5 hour classes.

In these beginner badge levels students learn the fundamentals of gymnastics, landing, rolling, jumping, and swinging, while getting familiar with the different pieces of equipment (bars, beam, floor, and vault) and also exploring the use of the trampolines.

Bronze+

1.5 hour class.

In these more advanced badge levels students progress their skills beyond the basics on each piece of equipment (bars, beam, floor, vault, and trampoline).

 

Competitive Classes

 

Salto Teams

Our Salto teams start at age 6, with highly dedicated athletes who have proven their talent and determination. Consisting of a Pre-Competitive group and multiple levels of Competitive groups (level placement based on skill).

These athletes train year-round, with their regular season running September to June plus summer training. They train 2-3x/week, anywhere from 2-9 hours depending on the level they are in.

Salto follows the Xcel competitive program and currently has 25+ athletes competing in levels Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. These athletes learn routines that are showcased at local funmeets and sanctioned competitions throughout the province. They gain confidence, friendships, and become a team that supports each other in their accomplishments.

 

 

Class Dress Code

 

Athletes are to wear comfortable clothing suitable for hanging upside down. No zippers, buttons snaps or ties. Long hair is to be tied back.
